The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
