It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are the only things left for a side that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her bow and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fail again.

If this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing completely," stated Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from that point Healy was underway.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was removed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
